Our Art Ease pilot scheme took place in a local Day Centre for people with dementia. We completed a series of arts and crafts workshops centered around our environment, the changing of the seasons, and our memories. Topics included foraging, recipes from childhood, quotes to live by, and celebrations such as birthdays, easter, as well as topical current affairs (like the world cup!).
Our groups were of mixed ages, genders and abilities, and we worked with staff, service users and families to tailor sessions accordingly. We received 100% positive feedback from service users, relatives and staff - and had a lot of fun in the process!
We make a difference

Relearning old skills
“I cannot remember the last time i held a pen, i didn’t know what hand i wrote with. Emmy was patient with me and helped me to relearn how to write and draw. I can now write my own name.”
-
A precious gift
“I didn’t quite believe my husband had made me the card he came home with. As his carer these are the things i miss. I am so overjoyed that Emmy has helped my husband to create this just for me. It means the world”.

Reminds me of my Mum
“When Emmy was prompting us to think of quotes we live by i got quite emotional thinking of the lessons my Mum taught me. Emmy gave me the space and comfort to reminisce and didn’t judge me. I really love these sessions”.
